airChild video Entertainment System released Atari 2600 which contained a programmable microprocessor so its cartridges only needed a single ROM chip to store microprocessor instructions.Later a video game crash came at 1977,only Atari and Magnovox stayed in the console market.Many of the video game systems were technically superior to the Atari 2600, and marketed as improvements over the Atari 2600. However, Atari dominated the console market throughout the early 1980s.The video game crash of 1983 made Atari to exit the console market.there want much consoles.
In 1983,the third generation consoles,Nintendo developed famicom in japan and brought it to the US market in 1985 in the form of Nintendo Entertainment System(NES).The Super Mario Bros and the light gun was introduced which we use to play duck hunt.Sega's Master System couldnt compete with NES.In the fourth generation,Sega regained the console market with the Sega Mega Drive.It also extended the Mega Drive to Mega CD.In the Fifth generation,there were a number of competitors whose consoles included Atari Jaguar, 3DO,Sega's Saturn,Sony's Playstation,Nintendo 64.Atari Jaguar
was released to combat the dominance that Nintendo and Sega were fighting for.yet it couldnt come out well.3DO was released in 1993 with a huge price tag of US$699.95 and it couldnt get good support from the market.Sega's Saturn was the first to use CD-ROM technology an it was a mild success and it was overcomed by its successor Sega's Dreamcast.Sony's Playstation became the first video game system to sell over 100 million consoles.While Nintendo 64 was a 64 bit console and as it had cartridge type it made a huge profit than Sony it had CDs

In the Early 2000s,the sixth generation consoles included,Sega's Dreamcast,Sony's Playstation 2,Nintendo GameCube,Microsoft's Xbox.Dreamcast used GD-ROM technology which cannot be pirated and then this was soon cracked well.It discontinued from the console market,While Sony followed to be the successful console and it was the first console to play DVDs and it had a record of 120 million copies sold worldwide till 2007.Gamecube didnt play standard 12cm DVDs instead it played 8cm.Microsoft's Xbox,the first console to have a hard drive to save the Games.In the seventh present generation,Blue Ray disc supported Playstation3 while HD-DV
D supported Xbox360.Another new technology with motion controller as input was designed by Nintendo Wii.In Xbox360 it had wireless controllers,Xbox Live is the unique feature of this console as it can connect to the internet through builtin Ethernet port and its capable of supporting 1080p with HDMI port.It has 120Gb hard drive in its expensive edition.In Playstation3 the first console box to support HDMI port and it can play Blue Ray discs and it supports 80GB at the most.In Nintendo Wii ,it doesnt have internal harddrive yet it utilises 512 internal Flash memory and it supports SD storage.It can support upto 480p only and it made into the seventh generation and not utilising the High Definition.Its Wii Remote resembles a TV remote and it utilizes a "sensor bar" that gives off infrared light which is captured by an infrared camera in the Wii remote to determine orientation relative to the source of said light.
